After doing a bunch of multi-track recording, I have realised that my preferred method of audio construction is based on setting a few machines running and then making them interact, then recording that live while processing it through some effects. Maybe I am lazy, but this seems to work for me. This new album is a collection of five improvised pieces, all titled Blonk, as that is the name of this style of music.

The whole process is based on synchronised triggering, and self-generative modulations. In this case the instruments used are a Roland TR-606, Make Noise 0 Coast, Dreadbox Nyx V2 and a Korg Minilogue. Live effects processing was taken care of by a bunch of effects, delays, reverbs, a nifty Malekko envelope filter thing, all running through a Tascam 8 track, through a Soundcraft mixer, down to two tracks on another Tascam, then quickly leveled out using Reaper.

I thought I would give you a little bit of the process here, cos otherwise it is just a bunch of random noise. Well it is still a bunch of random noise, but now you know why!
